Faces of Western Australia

Date:  26th February 2015
Time:  9.00am - 4.00pm
Venue:  The University Club of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia,in partnership with the key teaching  and research hospitals, the medical research institutes of WA and the WA Government through the Department of Health and the Office of Science, is pleased to present a roundtable that
will explore the opportunities for the community of studies on the 3D face of Western Australians. We are proposing to discuss a sociologically, culturally and medically unique program to document and explore the facial diversity in Western Australia in 3-Dimensions.

This event  is part of the Science on the Swan conference series  -  scienceontheswan.com.au

Face, space and place are intertwined, and Western Australia is uniquely poised to capitalise on world leading approaches across these domains developed through existing collaborations. It is also anticipated that new partnerships will emerge.

We all have a face; our unique expression of who we are, that reflects our life experiences and communicates our emotion to the world. From birth, our faces are a window to our being and our portal of interaction with our world. Our faces speak of the community
from whence we came, and of the communities to which we belong; the ultimate expression of our connection
as individuals. Our face is a canvas for the arts, a window for education, a living record of the diversity of the environment and our origins. Our face is also a biological billboard that advertises our physical and mental wellness, our aging and our disease.

To help frame the discussions, it is proposed to have three themes: Arts and Education; Health and Medicine; and Community, Government and Industry.
